The Artwork Story
Wingee Ginna (Snake Tracks)
The original artwork by artist Justin Butler depicts the tracks (Ginna) left behind after a snake (Wingee) has crossed the ground. The black semi-circular designs represent the snake’s scales. The Bandjin people are the traditional owners of Hinchinbrook Island which lies off the coast of North Queensland, Australia.
Hinchinbrook island is the largest island on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
